I listened to the Talking Social Studies podcast, which discussed using music in the classroom ( Using Music in Class , 2018). Music is a great way to analyze historical issues, practice analysis skills, and conduct cross-cultural analysis. Music is constantly evolving, so it is a great resource to use in Social Studies, and the lyrics can shed light on the history happening at the time. Music is a great hook to start a new lesson and is diverse in its use. Music is global, so no matter where someone is from, music is recognized worldwide. Is this something you would try in your classroom? If I end up becoming a Social Studies teacher, this is definitely something I would try in the classroom. There are already so many students who always have their AirPods in, and teaching using music would be more intriguing to them than reading a book. What did you like and dislike about this learning format, does it align with your learning style? I enjoyed this podcast. I can tell that they are very enthusiastic about Social Studies, which makes the conversation flow. They give their personal experience about using music in their classroom, which makes it more reassuring that it will have a positive impact. For example, one of the podcasters explained how she would leave her door open and have music playing that would reflect on the lesson for the day, and students would pass by to see what they would be learning. They would get student suggestions to play, which woul
