Answer:
Hello Classmates,
Please see my responses to the questions below.
What key themes stood out to you in Ury’s video the idea of taking a balcony perspective?
o
One of the themes that stood out to me is that we are all one big family.
When you show up to any environment, there is the potential for happiness, joy, and peace to show up, but there is also the opportunity for conflict and confusion to take place. It is a family and it is complex.
o
Ways to deal with conflict but realizing we are the agents of peace.
When we are placed in an environment that may have conflicting situations, we have a role to play.

o
How did the videos and activity connect to a System’s approach to thinking? What parallels do you see?
o
The connection between the video and the activity was everything is connected to a larger and complex system.
o
Some of the parallels that I saw were the following:
The video and activity must include my participation.
The video mentions the third side of conflict being us.
We have to be mindful of who we allow in our ears, but we also need to be aware of what we may potentially put in someone else's ear.
The video and activity must understand the impact an action or the lack thereof could have on the whole.
The video and activity validate that nothing can run on its own.
The video and activity helped us to see that we got to see things from a different level.
Think of a specific scenario (problem) in your workplace. How can you begin to think/act differently in order to shift the thinking of those around you?
o
There is a need for more volunteers in our Family Ministry area. Ensuring that the ratio of adults to kids is met weekly
is essential. When the ratios are not where they need to be, we have to turn kids away. Well, leadership is planning
