Week 11 Discussion - Reflection
You've done it! You made it to the last week of COM100. Take a moment to reflect back on the last 11 weeks.
Which 1-2 lessons do you believe will be the most valuable as you continue developing your skills?
How do you plan to use that information moving forward to improve communication in your personal or professional life?
Be sure to respond to the questions in the prompt first. Then, please respond to at least one classmate. You need a minimum of two posts (total) for each discussion board.
Two lessons that I believe will be most valuable to me as I continue developing my communication skills are active listening and empathy. Active listening involves fully concentrating on what is being said rather than just passively hearing the words. It involves giving feedback to the speaker to ensure understanding and showing genuine interest in the conversation. This will help me build better relationships and understand others' perspectives. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. By practicing empathy, I can connect more deeply with people, build trust, and resolve conflicts effectively. It also helps in showing respect and consideration towards others' emotions.
To use this information in my personal life, I can actively practice these skills in everyday interactions. By listening actively and showing empathy in conversations with friends, family, and colleagues, I can strengthen relationships and foster a more positive environment. These skills can also be applied in resolving conflicts, negotiating, and making decisions more collaboratively and effectively. By consciously incorporating active listening and empathy into daily communication, I can enhance my personal relationships and overall well-being.
