Carl Jung conceptualized the self by explaining there's always an authentic self beneath the multiple personas, that is capable of growth. 2. C.R. Rogers defines integrity as someone who is attuned to changing their emotional responses, and able to accept this internal information and act appropriately upon it. 3. Authenticity is when someone has their own self regulatory benefits that is why they can make choices and adjustments based on their own actual needs and the situation, having integrity helps social benefits, and “authentic experiencing and behaving is highly adaptive simply because it tends to promote more complex and integrated task performance. 4. Deci and Ryans self-determination theory shapes understanding authenticity by explaining that people are satisfied when they feel free to do what is most interesting and personally important. Two factors that can lead to inauthentic behavior is controlling social contexts and controlled personality styles.
