A. Create a proposal that includes your evaluation of
three
learning technology tools that could be used to achieve a specific learning goal by doing the following:
1. State the learning goal.
Students will be able to identify and describe the differences between an opinion and fact. 2. Identify and describe
three
learning technology tools—excluding learning management systems—and do the following:
1.
Nearpod:
Nearpod is a learning technology tool that supports student understanding through interactive lessons, videos, gamification, and activities. Teachers and students can cohesively use the platform together when completing a lesson.
2.
Blooket:
Blooket is a learning technology that puts reviewing topics and answering questions into a game. Students answer questions about the topic they have learned and have different game modes to pick from.
3.
Pear Deck:
Pear Deck is a learning technology that allows educators to plan and build interactive presentations that students can participate in synchronously or asynchronously. a.
Discuss an element from each tool that could support the achievement of the learning goal.
1.
Nearpod: An element from Neapord that could support the learning goal is that educators can either find a premade lesson and activity that hits the target for students
to learn the difference between an opinion and fact. It introduces the definition of an opinion and a fact, gives examples, and allows students to answer different types of questions (multiple choice, fill in the blank, matching, free response) as an informal assessment and check for understanding. An example of a premade fact and opinion Nearpod is here: https://nearpod.com/t/english-language-arts/3rd/fact-and-opinion-

2.
Blooket:
An element from Blooket that could support the learning goal is making a review game after teaching a lesson on differentiating facts and opinion. Blooket will allow the educator to input questions about the lesson and have students answer the questions through a game mode such as Gold Quest, Cypto Hack, Tower Defense, etc
and earn points against their peers. It is instant feedback for students and educators to see if the learning target was met. 3.
Pear Deck: An element from Pear Deck that could support the learning goal is that educators can make their presentation/lesson on facts and opinions interactive. Students can participate from their chromebooks/laptops during the lesson. This is a good way for educators to informally assess student progress on understanding the differences between fact and opinion.
b.
Discuss an element from each tool that could facilitate deep learning.
1.
Nearpod: An element from Nearpod that could facilitate deep learning is that educators can assign students to complete the lessons independently or synchronously
with the class. It offers open ended questions, matching, multiple choice, true or false questions based on the lesson. In regards to opinion and facts, students will be able to use critical thinking skills to answer these questions based on the lesson on Nearpod.
2.
Blooket
: An element from Blooket that could facilitate deep learning is that educators
are able to present content and curriculum to students in an engaging, interactive way.
It motivates students to retain and learn about facts and opinion in order to do well in Blooket. To gain coins or points, they must answer the question correctly. The educator also receives a report after to see what questions were missed and answered correctly.
3.
Pear Deck: An element from Pear Deck that could facilitate deep learning is that educators can make the lesson interactive to monitor and facilitate student engagement and understanding during the lesson. This platform is unique because it is immediate and instant feedback if the educator decides to include student check ins and informal assessments throughout the lesson. Educators can also control the pace of the lesson on student chromebooks/laptops to ensure a good pace. c.
Discuss an element from each tool that could accommodate individual learning differences.
1.
Nearpod:
An element from Nearpod that could accommodate individual learning differences is the different learning modes they offer. Nearpod offers learning through
readings, videos, games all online. There is a text to speech option as well. This ensures that educators can choose the different types of learning modes for their students to complete. All the options Nearpod offers are engaging and accommodating. 2.
Blooket: An element from Blooket that could accommodate individual learning differences is the option for the educator to control how questions and information is presented for students. There is an option to make questions multiple choice, true or false, answer through images/visuals, colors/shapes, etc. It also is self paced and does not have a timer on each question.
3.
Pear Deck: An element from Pear Deck that could accommodate individual learning differences is their option of Immerse Reader. This option is made for students who cannot access the reading or text during a Pear Deck lesson. It is a text to speech option and any student can have access to it during the lesson. Each word is highlighted and read aloud. d.
Discuss whether each tool integrates with a learning management system.
All three learning tool can be integrated with a learning management system. Nearpod and Pear Deck can be embedded directly into a LMS such as Google Classroom or Canvas. Blooket can be assigned as a link for students to click on their LMS platform. While Nearpod and Pear Deck allows you to retrieve reports from the lesson to assess
