Share a list of at least three resources for teachers (journal articles, videos, podcasts) to support the development of phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, or comprehension. At least one resource must assist teachers in addressing the diverse needs of families. For each resource, provide a 1-2 sentence explanation of how the resource would be useful for early childhood educators.
In your response to two classmates, discuss what you learned from reviewing their resources and whether you would incorporate that knowledge into your future professional practice.
Resource #1
This academic journal article offers five instructional methodologies for teachers to utilize in order to foster their students' phonemic awareness. The development of these strategies was based on an analysis of the reading needs of students. These needs are often influenced by a number of different factors, such as the family structures, family needs, biological variables, linguistic hurdles, cognitive challenges, inadequate or subpar reading teaching, and more. Resource #3
The journal article emphasizes the importance of taking into account the various family needs when helping students of all ages develop their reading abilities. It is essential that educators take into account not only the needs of the student, but also the needs of
the student's family in order to create a successful learning environment. Using inclusive
language and communication that celebrates student diversity, there are suggestions, discussions, and examples of how the fundamentals of reading can be taught. Granata, K. (n.d.). Welcoming Family Diversity in the Classroom
