EDU10006: Teaching and Learning in the 21st-century Assignment 1: Presentation Assignment overview For this assignment, you will research and design a presentation for parents, that you will create in the form of a narrated PowerPoint video presentation. In particular, you will explore examples of how you could respond to world issues through the early childhood curriculum. Assignment details In this assignment you are required to research and design a 4-minute PowerPoint presentation in response to the following scenario: Scenario You are a kindergarten teacher, and you have been asked to create a short video on the topic of 21 st century early childhood education to share on the kinder website. You get together with a kinder colleague to brainstorm what sort of examples you might share with parents, before creating your own short video presentation. Step 1 (Individual) Create a PowerPoint video presentation highlighting ways you can respond to 21st-century issues through the kinder program. See Creating your narrated PowerPoint presentation  for more information on how to create your video. Include a clear introduction slide that outlines and frames the content of your presentation. Develop the content of your presentation by including: a summary of 21st-century teaching and learning that defines how it is different to 20th-century teaching and learning practical examples that support the discussion by comparing traditional teaching practices to 21st-century teaching practices a summary of globalisation with an example of how globalisation is changing education a summary of social change with an example of how social change is changing education a summary of technological change with an example of how technology can be used in early childhood education a summary of ecological change with an example of how environmental education can be integrated into early childhood education.
Aim for 1–2 slides for each of these dot points listed. Your slides should contain basic dot points and relevant images, with further detail added through your narration. View the Presentation structure guide  for a list of suggested ideas to include in your presentation to help you address each of the listed dot points. Ensure to add your APA styled reference list and the screenshot of your brainstorm with your partner at the end of your PowerPoint slides. The weekly content and learning materials from Weeks 1–5 will support you with this assignment. Throughout your teaching and learning journey, you will be required to use the nationally approved learning frameworks (the Early Years Learning Framework [EYLF] or the Australian Curriculum [from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority - ACARA]) or the approved learning frameworks for your state or territory. To help you further build capability in this area, and to prepare you for placements, at Swinburne Online you may choose to use the nationally approved learning frameworks or the approved learning frameworks for your state or territory in your assignments. Presentation development : Presentation content clearly articulates ideas about century 21st teaching and learning. As per Distinction and: Creative and engaging presentation with illustrations and/or images that align with the content. Highly sophisticated, precise, mature and insightful understandings of the topic, clearly expressed for the target audience. 2. Summaries of 21st-century teaching and learning : Capacity to identify and describe four factors that influence change. As per Distinction and: Descriptions and definitions of teaching and learning are thoughtful, offering insights into the topic. 3. Respond to world issues: Recognition and description of four relevant examples to illustrate the four factors. As per Distinction and: Uses clear examples to illustrate the complexity of world issues and how they can be integrated within the curriculum with children. 4. Academic skills: English expression, writing, APA and reference to relevant readings and resources.
