1-1 Discussion: Introduction
In your initial post, address the following:
First, introduce yourself. Tell us who you are, the program you are
in at SNHU, and what you hope to gain by taking this course.
Describe your experiences with setting up a computer network,
including experiences at home as well as in the workplace. If you
do not have any experience building a network, write instead about
your experiences using a network. This may range from using
social media on a laptop or phone to sending a print job for a
course assignment or for work. You may connect to a network at
home, a coffee shop, the airport, work, or myriad other places.
You may want to trace your connections to networks during the
span of one to three days. It can be surprising to find how much of
our experience is networked these days. This will also suggest why
this course is so important.
In response to two of your peers, extend the conversation.
Note any surprises or points you were not aware of, ask questions,
and share commonalities.
Then be sure to reply to the responses you receive. In this course,
the discussion topics should be friendly and show an inquisitive
spirit, so here is the chance to start.
Hello All,
I want to gain more knowledge in networking and understand more IP
addresses, especially IPv6 and subnet masks.
When I was doing my Associate degree, I had an experience where we
had to build a small network. In that class, we had to use a switch, a router, and
hosts where we had to make sure that the 3 machines were able to talk to each
other (like ping the IP address). We connected a wire from other group routers to
our router after we could ping the IP address on our network, and then we
double-checked that we could ping every IP address on the network. When
everything was in working order and we could ping the IP addresses, it was a
pleasant and satisfying experience.
I was fortunate to have experience setting up a new Wireless Access Point
in my previous work. My coworker and I had to set up a switch so that it could
connect to every WAP. Since it was my first time building up a network in the real
world, it was a rewarding experience.

Hello,
Do you build the fiber cable, or are you just installing it? When I was taking a fiber class,
I recall that it took me a very long time to build because the fiberglass was breaking or I
wasn't delicate enough with it or I overcooked it. But it was a fun class and really liked
it.
Hello,
Did you experience any problems when streaming music, such as a slow internet
connection? If so, what actions have you taken?
I have dealt with users at work who complain about their poor internet connections even
if there is not a lot of traffic going on.
