Discussion Thread: Standards Comparison
After reviewing both the Common Core Standards and the Virginia Standards of learning, the Common Core Standards seem to be more basic. Meaning, there seems to be a lot more interaction between the students and the teachers in reference to language arts standards. For example, allowing students to read aloud a story with the allowance of discussion right after and once that is complete, allowing the students to pair up in pairs or small groups to retell and share their interpretations of the story. Although the Virginia Standards of Learning criteria allow students to engage and interact with more advanced research by allowing them to read stories on their own, I personally think that starting with the Common Core Standards, students will be more successful as new learners because it allows for a more neutral starting point for all students. In regard to second grade, I believe that teachers should start off the year with the Common Core Standards curriculum because I think that it will allow for more student success and an easier transition than the Virginia Standards of Learning curriculum. Once they have taught the students using the Common Core Standards, they can then transition the students into the integration of learning based upon the Virginia Standards of Learning. Common Core curriculum is a more interactive curriculum which allows teachers to identify problem areas with their students and therefore topics/subjects they need to focus more on. It will also allow for them to interact and adapt their teaching to aid in better understanding for their
students while listening to them interact with each other when discussing a story for
example. From a teacher's perspective, I personally think Common Core Standards allows more flexibility in teaching and therefore allows for more room to adapt and change instruction to best benefit the students and allow them more opportunities for success in the beginning. References

Address the following points in about 200 words:
Describe the data visualization and how it is cluttered
Outline changes you would make to declutter the visualization based on the chapter reading.

Evaluating a Procedural Text
In this task, you'll read a procedural text and then evaluate its organization and clarity, applying the guidelines you read previously. Then you'll suggest ways to improve it. This task will help you become familiar with the components of this type of text before you write your own. Read this written lab procedure, and then answer the questions that follow:
Performing a Lab Experiment
First, you'll need to make sure you have all your equipment, such as a science notebook, dissection tools, a stopwatch, an electronic balance, glassware, and possibly many others. The next thing that you'll want to do is have all your safety equipment—helmet, mask, goggles, ear protection, respirator, welding mask, whatever you need. Always follow these guidelines for safety:
Read the entire lab procedure.
Bring only needed materials into area.
Know where the safety and emergency equipment is located.
It's important to understand how to dispose of waste after…

Mini-Case Google’s PageRank:
Google’s PageRank is an algorithm that attempts to inform you where people are coming from when they land on your website and which sources are the most frequent. Note that, as its name suggests, a page rank is an index estimated page by page; it’s not an overall website assessment. Think of the Internet as a big network (duh), where the links aren’t all equal. Just as with people, some of your connections are “more important” (in achieving whatever goals) than others. With clickstreams, if you’re getting a lot of web traffic, is it coming from somewhere impressive like Amazon or from Joe’s-Shoes-and-Tshirts.com? The algorithm weights the more important (more connected) links more than the less important (less connected) links.
Say you’re trying to determine the rank of your home page. You figure that’s a good start, and customers can navigate more precisely once they’re in your domain. The ranking model begins by checking all the incoming links to the…

Task 2. Design, build and test (ILO2)
Unicorn vs Pegasus is a simple dice game for one player. The aim is to collect all the body parts of
either a Unicorn or a Pegasus (both mythical horse-like creatures). Rolling an unbiased eight-sided
dice, a 1 gives a body, 2 gives a tail, 3 gives a leg, 4 gives a head, 5 gives an eye, 6 gives a mouth, 7
gives a wing, and 8 gives a horn. A player must collect a body before any other body parts can be
added. A player must collect a head before any eyes, mouth or horn can be added.
Before you write any code, it is worth playing this game a few times using a pencil, paper and an
eight-sided dice (or use https://rolladie.net/roll-a-d8-die). Choose whether you are going to build a
Unicorn or Pegasus before you begin.
(1) Implement this game as one Python function. The function should have one parameter
which is used to select whether a Unicorn or a Pegasus is built. Follow the steps and…

def is_left_handed(pips):
Even though this has no effect on fairness, pips from one to six are not painted on dice just any which way, but so that pips on the opposite faces always add up to seven. (This convention makes it easier to tell when someone tries to use crooked dice with certain undesirable pip values replaced with values that are more desirable for the cheater.) In each of the 23 = 8 corners of the cube, exactly one value from each pair of forbidden opposites 1-6, 2-5 and 3-4 meets two values chosen from the other two pairs of opposites. You can twist and turn any corner of the die to face you, and yet two opposite sides never spread into simultaneous view.
This discipline still allows for two distinct ways to paint the pips. If the numbers in the corner shared by the faces 1, 2, and 3 read out clockwise as 1-2-3, that die is left-handed, whereas if they read out as 1-3-2, that die is right-handed. Analogous to a pair of shoes made separately for the left and…

Messages in communication are sent in a form of sound waves or signals. This
is the job of the transmitter. It converts the message into signals to be transmitted or
sent through cables or other machines.
Once the message has already been converted, it will pass through a channel, the

Timesheet data is easy to represent in a file, where it can be used to generate a report and help the worker get paid! Given an example set of data where each row represents a day of the week and each entry on the row represents a block of time worked, like this:
0h1.5h 3.25h3.0h 6.0h 1.0h5.5h 2.25h 0.75h2.25h 3.0h 3.0h5.75h 2.25h0h
A report could be produced by a program like this:
---------------------------------------0.00h | 0.00h5.25h | 1.50h 3.25h 0.50h10.00h | 3.00h 6.00h 1.00h8.50h | 5.50h 2.25h 0.75h8.25h | 2.25h 3.00h 3.00h8.00h | 5.75h 2.25h0.00h | 0.00h---------------------------------------Weekly Total: 40.00h
