FCS 330 Chapter 3 Assignment
September 13, 2015
The chapter states that if caregivers see three or four children as their own special charge,
then they can promote a stronger attachment whether than it being left up to caregivers to relate
to the whole group without differentiation. It also states how important it is to create a system of
teams so that there is always a familiar adult present if the primary caregiver is absent. When
things are running smoothly, caregivers are able to interact with children other than their special
charges. It is very important for children to have these kinds of guidelines to get them through
the things they may be going through. I think that having a primary caregiver system helps
children to grow and develop positive relationships with their caregivers.
I have observed in the infant room on several occasions were primary-caregiver systems
are being used. On the first day of lab we as the lab students were introduced to the infants and
teachers. Some of the infants smiled as we can in while others looked at us as if we frighten
them. The primary teacher told us about each baby and how it takes some a little time to get use
to us while others flung to us. The primary teacher would say to the infants these are some new
friends that want to play with you and learn more about you. Some of the infants jumped for joy.
I believe that the primary caregiver used the system well because she made the children feel a
little more comfortable about us being around them and that they are still safe with familiar
faces.
The second thing I observed was when I was in the infant room trying to feed a six month
baby girl some cereal. The six months old was very hungry and the teachers had said that she
would let anyone feed her so I had volunteered to do it. As I began to feed her, the baby began to
cry out with rage. I stopped and asked I’m I doing something wrong. The teachers informed me
that I was doing nothing wrong and that the baby probably did not want to eat because of the
change up of mixing her food with water to milk had occurred. So I attempted once more to try
to soothe the infant while trying to feed her again. She began to cry once more and the primary
caregiver stepped in and soothes the child and then she began to eat. It wasn’t that I was doing
anything wrong, but that the baby wasn’t use to me feeding her. She had wanted a familiar face
to give it to her.
The third time I observed was when I was in the infant room trying to feed infants that
are normally breastfeed babies. I had started soothing the child by letting him know that his
bottle was right here. The baby just looked at me and as I put the bottle in his mouth, he would
not suck it for nothing. So I asked the primary caregiver for tips on how they get him to eat. She
had told me that sometimes you have to move the nipple in a circular motion for them to start
sucking. So I began doing that and the baby started sucking the bottle with no problem. I believe
that the primary care givers at Delta State University are doing an excellent job with the infants.
I don’t believe that their need to be any changes made to the infant room in order to
increase the interactions. The children are responding well to them and to new faces that they
come in to contact with. The primary caregivers have their own set of charges and still have time
for the other children as well. They treat all the children the same and try to encourage them in

every way possible. The primary caregiver system they have are working just fine and it shows
through the infants.

Section C. Research scenarios.
Read the following scenario describing a research project, and then write a short criticism of this project. You should clearly identify at least four aspects of the project which you believe are incorrect or poor. These may relate to the research question, the experimental design, the analysis and reporting, and/or any ethical or academic misconduct issues. For each criticism which you identify, clearly describe the problem and state how it should have been addressed to improve the quality of the research.
Question 15.
A company providing on-line teaching software claims that students who are on-line students achieve better results on learning programming languages than on campus students. The company has developed a hypothesis based on this claim. The company chose one university to conduct research to test this hypothesis. The company applied for research ethics clearance and was granted it.

Draw an activity diagram that models the following employee reimbursement process:
Employees of a university have to follow a specific procedure to get reimbursed for travel they
undertake on behalf of the university. First, in order to prepare a reimbursement request, they
have to do the following activities at the same time: gather all of the receipts the university
requires for reimbursement and complete the official reimbursement form. They then submit
both the receipts and the form to their departmental secretary for checking purpose. If something
on the form is incorrect, the secretary returns the form to the employee and ask for correction. If
the form is correct, the employee is asked to review the reimbursement amounts, which are
determined by an analysis of the reimbursement request. If the amount shown is not correct, the
employee must indicate that this is the case. If the amount shown is correct, then the employee":
responsibilities for reimbursement are complete.

You will be using the Basic COCOMO Model for quick and rough estimates. The Basic COCOMO Model is broken into three different (organic, semi-detached, and embedded) categories. Boehm's definition of organic, semi- detached, and embedded systems is as follow:
1. Organic - A software project is said to be an organic type if the team size required is adequately small, the problem is well understood and has been solved in the past and also the team members have a nominal experience regarding the problem.
2. Semi-detached - A software project is said to be a Semi-detached type if the vital characteristics such as team-size, experience, knowledge of the various programming environments lie in between that of organic and Embedded. The projects classified as Semi-Detached are comparatively less familiar and difficult to develop compared to the organic ones and require more experience and better guidance and creativity. For instance, compilers or…

The client's ultimate objective is to have an online software system that gives information about the movies that the client sells to customers online. The system gives information about movies and actors/actresses. That is, the system should be accessed online. Each movie is identified by title and year of release. A movie has a genre (drama, comedy, etc.), a running time, and one director. A movie is made at a movie studio and may have multiple producers (people in charge of the movie production).
A movie studio has a unique name and address, and may make one or more movies. Producers are identified by name and date of birth and produce one or more movies. Directors are also identified by name and date of birth and direct one or more movies. Assume that directors don’t act or produce movies. Draw a Use Case Diagram for Patient management system
Vic’s hospital has a patient management system. A patient must register with the hospital before start of the treatment. Once registered, a doctor is assigned to the patient. The patient must be provided with an appointment date based on the urgency. A doctor meets the patient and request tests to be performed by labs. When the lab results are ready, a new appointment is set with doctor. Doctor meets the patient again and prescribe medicines and treatments/rehabilitation.

Create an analysis connecting one or more points in this article to at least two of the CSE activities you completed earlier this semester. “Connecting” can take a wide variety of forms. For example, you might compare the ideas in this article with the ideas in one of the earlier CSE articles we worked with. You might take a theoretical framework and/or practical case we worked with earlier and apply ideas in this article to the theory, the practice, or both.
