Electrical Engineering Technician AMAT/ SETAS Course: EET-215 INTRODUCTION TO PLC Names: ___Jensen Huang_______________________Student ID: _301291917________________ Date: _________________________ Lab #5 Counters Objective: To implement counter instructions in a ladder logic program You have been asked by a customer to create a PLC program for a parking lot application to track the number of cars in the parking lot and to controls the lift gates. Procedure: 1. Create a ladder logic program that performs as follows: a. When a customer approaches the entrance of the parking lot and presses push button PB1 the entry lift gate rises up (simulated by LT1 turns ON). b. The customer has 5 seconds to drive in before the lift gate lowers down (LT1 turns OFF). c. When a customer leaving the parking lot, approaches the exit and presses push button PB2, the exit lift gate raises up (simulated by LT2 turns ON) d. The customer has 10 seconds to drive out before the lift gate lowers down (LT2 turns OFF). e. Use the proper counter instruction to track the number of cars in the parking lot, the counter should increment or decrement its counter value (CV) when a car enters or leaves the parking lot respectively. f. When the parking lot is full (10 cars) the entrance lift gate doesn’t open. g. When the parking lot is empty the exit lift gate doesn’t open. h. Selector switch SW1 resets the counter (to zero) and turns the application OFF when turned to the left position. 2. Download your program to the PLC 3. Run the program and click monitoring 4. Verify that the program is functioning properly. 5. Show your instructor your work. 1
6. Save your work as Lab5_your last name_your student ID 7. Using a ruler or a sketching software, draw neatly your ladder logic program in a block diagram showing I/O modules and I/O sources, all wired to the right terminals, labeled and addressed properly.
