Module 2: Scholarly Source for a Research Topic
1.
The topic I have chosen to do for my research paper is solar panels. The objective is to give more knowledge to many people on how much it cost to install them in your home or even in your business. My goal is to also talk about the advantages that many homeowners have over the many years of utilizing such technology. The reason I decided
to do more research about this is that when a friend of mine told me that people utilize clean energy such as solar panels and electric cars receives incentives from the government and that is one of the main reasons why he finally decided to buy a Tesla. Resources:
Palm, J. (2018). Household installation of solar panels – Motives and barriers in a 10-year perspective. Energy Policy
, 113
, 1. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.enpol.2017.10.047 The first source that I have found covers the cost of solar panels when they are first installed for many homeowners. This article also talks about that after years and years of these homeowners having utilized solar panels, they came back and interviewed the homeowners on what are the advantages that solar panels gave them. It includes how much money they have saved since they have installed solar panels in their homes. The reason why I chose this article is because it answered one of my questions, how much does it cost to install solar panels in homes and businesses and how much money can you save by using the technology? I know that with Hunt Library I can easily filter scholarly articles and I know that it also uses a data warehouse that is known to keep the best information, magazines, articles, and journals and that is why I stuck with doing research in Hunt Library.

(a) Look up the definition of unit for clothing insulation, called “clo” value. Convert 1.5 clo to a value with an unit in international standard.
(b) In the winter, people wear more cloth to keep themselves warm. You have the option of wearing 2 jackets that are 0.3 cm thick or 1 jacket that is 0.6 cm. Assume they are made of the same material and neglect any effect from cloth openings. Which option should you choose to keep you warm? Draw a thermal circuit to help with your discussion.

Mr. Kleppin,
As you know, my company has supplied the energy needs of the entire state since 1968! I can’t believe they are demanding that we reduce our emissions! This will force us to pass on the increase in the cost to our customers! Thankfully, the government will be providing a subsidy to offset these costs! The current subsidy is $500 per pound of pollution reduction each day. I have spoken to the engineering department regarding the cost to reduce emissions. They informed me that the daily cost to us is a fixed daily cost of $100 in addition to $30 times the square of the quantity of pounds of pollution reduced each day. Currently, I would like to reduce emissions by 10 pounds of pollutant per day. At this level, what is our marginal cost of reducing emissions to 10 pounds of pollutant per day? With the government subsidy, what would be our net cost for reducing emissions by 10 pounds of pollutant per day? The government would like us to reduce emissions by 20 pounds of…
