Module 2 Short Responses – Question 1 What types
of primary and secondary sources will you need to use to support the topic you are examining in your essay? You don't need the actual sources yet, but you should have an idea of what they might be (such as an eyewitness account of an event, for example).
For my essay I plan to visit the Cherokee Museum where I hope to find primary sources such as journal entries and original documents from the time period of the removal of the Cherokee Indian from Western North Carolina in their archives. Secondary sources that I could use include stories that have been handed down through the generations of what took place between the U.S. government and the Cherokee and how they managed to hold on to the land here. Scenes from the Cherokee play "Unto These Hills" could also be a good secondary source for my essay.
