APUSH - DBQ Essay 3.03 Evaluate the relative significance of different effects of the Market Revolution from 1800 through 1860. Contextualization: (3-4 sentences - you can connect it to anything that occurs before the time frame given in the question) The market revolution had a great significanc through the 1800s, but there were many elements and innovations beforehand which supported and fueld its impact. Some factors that influenced the market revolution are industrialization, the beginning of technological advancements, immigration of workers, the start of commercial farming, etc. Thesis: Answers the question Arguable Use supporting point categories to allude to evidence Have a “however” statement (counterargument) The Market Revolution influenced many changes and had a great significance on how society functions from 1800-1860. Significant effects and advancements of the Market Revolution in the 19th century include transportation, agriculture, and the market society. USE THE LIST! The market revolution introduced a change in transportation through new technology and industrialization. Some of these forms included over-seas travel (steamboats), roads (vehicles), and rail road tracks (trains) which allowed for people and produce to travel over long distances and trade between countries. Many facotries/industries benefited from this upgrade in commerce as it field there businesses and the economy. In document 2 we can see how the Market Revolution introduced new technology in transportation overseas. The steamboat was significant, especially in the 1800s, because it contributed greatly to the growth of the economy by upgrading the way industrial and agricultural products were shipped/transported by making the system more efficient. Document 2 supports my first point as it shows a picture of an example of new transportation technology the market revolution introduced. Document 5’s letter excerpt was significant as it showed the initiative to evolve transportation through requesting the treasury to fund the road project, which expresses my supporting point through new construction. The introduction of rail roads supports my idea that the market revolution had a great significance on transportation through new construction and technology as the creation of railroads improved travel time (people
and supplies) by making transportation 90% times faster, ultimately bootisting industrial businesses. The new technology allowed or faster and more efficient ways to collect crops such as wheat and cotton. The market revolution also allowed for immigrants to aid in farminig increasing production rates alogside the machines. Shown in document 1, a new form of farming machinery was advertised to promote more efficient crop production. Road construction allowed for commerce to progress as product transportation expanded connecting businesses throughout the country improving the economy and market. The market revolution also allowed the option for females to work increasing the amount of laborers which helped production rates as well. Document 3 shows an excerpt from a speech requesting the need for industrialization. This speech was significant as it was influenced by the start of the century and the speaker’s connection to aid the market revolution. This
document supports my point in which the market revolution created industrial success and market society as the speech describes how indurtialiation and revolutionizing road construction would benefit and promote commerce etc. Document 7 also demonstrates my point of the market revolution creating market society as the writing was one of the many facets influencing females being allowed to work which promoted the industry and production through more workers.
