Tables Four and Five of the Twelve Tables of Rome
3
List three facts you
learned from the
source.
If a child is deformed the father must kill it immediately.
If a man doesn’t want to be married anymore they could
just send their wife away.
If a person has no male kids and they die, the closest male relative they have inherits their estate.
2
Ask two questions
about the information.
Why wouldn’t the mans estate go to the wife?
How can a parent kill their kid just because they are different?
1
Make one conclusion
about men, women,
and children Rome.
I really don’t agree with the way things were in Rome. Just based on these tables you can see that women did not have a lot of value. Also you can tell children were only loved if they were normal. I think this would have been a very sad time to live in. Reflection Responses:
Compare how life differed for female and male children in Rome.
Explain the effect of social status on one’s future in the Roman Republic.
