A researcher begins to identify a problem space with the foundation of passion coupled with ideas. When a researcher passionately dives into ideas surrounding a topic, questions begin to form, and the detective work begins. The problem space is essential as it is used as a strategy to support learners with identifying gaps within their own research and establishes boundaries for the literature review (Grand Canyon University, 2023). Research has shown there are strategies that can be used to frame a problem (McKilligan & Seifert, 2019). As learners navigating the dissertation process, it is supportive to immediately establish a strong literature review. The more literature that is reviewed, the more questions will arise. As a researcher answers each question the problem space is narrowed, becoming more focused. Questions are specific to if the study is significant, has this been studied prior and in what context or population, what impact did the study have on the research community, what is known and unknown about the topic, and what limitations are noticed in prior research.
