Video Observation 1 Case 680- Applying Listening and Speaking Skills while Presenting a Digital Scrapbook about the Early Settlers 1. Describe the technology and its integration into the instructional process. In the video from my observation, the instructor utilizes a projector to play a digitalized copy of the story Homespun Sara. What I am observing of the student's setting is that they are all sitting. The students are expected to follow along with the story. The students are expected to pay attention and observe the similarities and differences of our society today and history. a. Identify the level of technology according to the SAMR model and provide a rationale for your selection. The teachers utilize Substitution when incorporating their level of technology. This is because she is having the students listen to the story Homespun Sara. The story is still being shared with the students but differently. The students get the same information from the story but on a projector screen. The students get to watch and hear the story, just in a different manner. 2. Explain how the technology integration affected the teaching and learning process. The teacher utilized technology to facilitate a more engaging and intriguing delivery of the same material. The way the teacher delivered the material incorporated more sense from the children. They were able to see and visualize the material. The students are also about to hear the story as it’s being projected to the class. The teacher can also observe the students participating and engaged and what students may need assistance bringing their attention back to the assignment. The teacher can assist the students in this manner because she is not currently reading the material herself, so she can observe and meet her student's needs. 3. Explain how integration at a different level of SAMR could improve student learning. One integration at a different level could be Augmentation. Instead of having the students observe with paper and pencil, they can be asked to use classroom devices to record their observations.
After the story is read and the teacher reviews the information with the students, she can ask them to complete an informal assessment on their devices. Once they submit it, the teacher and
students will know how well they observed the story that was read to them.

Case 14- Using Technology in Creative Writing 1. Describe the technology and its integration into the instructional process. The technology used in the video is a projector, a document camera, and PowerPoint software. The teacher uses the projector and document camera to project the material she instructs her students. The teacher can easily share what she expects the students to focus on. PowerPoint is the technology being utilized so that students can create their own stories. The students are to have
made these stories on their own and share them in two different pathways. a. Identify the level of technology integration according to the SAMR model and provide a rationale for your selection. The story of technology incorporated into the lesson according to the SAMR model is Redefinition. The students can create a project that was possible due to the use of technology. The students are required to write two versions of their story. The reader must choose a pathway to see the next part of the story. The teacher motivates the students by informing them that the best story will be published online for other grades to read. 2. Explain how the technology integration affected the teaching and learning process. The document camera and projector allow the teacher to direct the students' attention to what she wants them to focus on. They can follow along by watching and listening vs. following along on a paper. The PowerPoint software allows the students to take their creativity and writing skills to
another level by using the computer software in a very engaging way. Students are still incorporating and strengthening their writing skills, but at the same time, they can build new skills needed to work with technology. They can learn about design, creating videos, and many other skills necessary for utilizing technology. When students write their papers the old-
fashioned way with pen and paper, they only tap into a part of their ability. When incorporating technology, the process of learning is endless. PowerPoint engages children in many ways, utilizing many different skills of theirs. 3. Explain how integration at a different level of SAMR could improve student learning. Students
learning could be enhanced by integrating the level of Modification. By giving the students the ability to receive immediate feedback from peers or their teachers when creating their stories, they can build, adapt, learn, and grow. They can edit their work and make a more intriguing product.
