To the editor,
I have read your article, "What is causing the Global Chip Shortage?” A number of topics
related to chip scarcity are covered. Although you provided some solutions for this issue in the portion of the post titled "How to cope with chip shortage?" I think this is the limited solution and view as the entire picture is not taken into account. You have mentioned different methods, but you should have mentioned the adverse effects being posed by following such methods. If one company stocked up on chips, other firms wouldn't have the necessary resources. Redesigning things from the ground up would require fewer chips, which would take time and money that many businesses might not have. In addition to this, using copper aluminum would cost extra money as copper is three times more costly than aluminum. Therefore, a linear approach was taken in this evaluation; to assess the detrimental effects of the strategies on resolving the chip shortages issue, the whole picture had to be taken into account. This was made
more accessible by applying a systems approach to evaluation.
