2 Role of the Educator The children need us. By us I mean educators. Educators are seen as someone who teaches children day in and day out on how to read, write, add and subtract. The role of an educator is much more than that. Yes, our duty as an educator is to ensure that the students that enter the classrooms are taught a proper education so that they can be productive members of society after High School. But, our duty goes beyond just that. As an educator we are role models for the students that walk down the hallways. We as educators have our professional dispositions that we not only abide by but live by in order to ensure that each student is getting the best education that they are deserved (GCU, 2014). The purpose of this essay is to shed light on the role of the educator and their importance. Purpose of Education What is the purpose of education. The purpose of education is to ensure that each child receives the education that they are deserved. This education is a starting point in their lives where they will discover many things about themselves, such as what there skills and strong suits are. They begin to figure out how to problem solve and work together with other people and groups, which is key parts of society today. They grow their social skills and learn who they are. Education sparks and helps grow each child’s creative nature and curiosity which will help propel them forwards in life (Fast A, 2015). Educators have high expectations for every student as we want them all to achieve great things, which is a reason why educators push themselves to ensure that students receive the best instructions possible. Teachers as Leaders and Advocates A teacher is a leader in the classrooms and outside of it. An educator has the responsibility of advocacy by ensuring that the students are progressing through their curriculum and retaining the information all the while making sure that it is taught in a way that is interesting to the students. As a leader the educator has the responsibility of having an active role in the happenings of the students learning and assessments. They are collaborating with their colleagues and even students parents to ensure that they are meeting the diverse needs of every student. Standard 10 of InTASC is Leadership and Collaboration, and it goes into much greater detail of the leadership and advocacy role that an educator plays with the students, school and their community (CCSO, 2011). Upholding the Expectations of the Profession There are many expectations that an educator must live up to and follow. The responsibility that an educator has is no small thing. There are times that an educator must put
