As for any analysis, the goal was to help, not only you, but myself, better understand the deeper meaning behind the piece being discussed. In specific, I want the takeaway from this to be that simplicity doesn’t always mean meaningless. Sure, the piece might look simple, but even if you don't know it, your brain is working to put together the bigger image, the deeper meaning. Determining the reasoning behind the use of ‘The Hulk’ as an advertisement versus a normal human hand was the most time- consuming point covered in this analysis. This is because as I realized one reason, another one would come to light. In the end, I determined that there were many reasons as to why this marketing choice was made and why it’s effective. I tried to dig deeper into the image, not just determine it’s a monochromatic piece, and move on. However, after receiving peer feedback, my analysis was altered again. I considered all feedback and from there, altered what I found necessary. I wrote this in a way that made sense to me, and that helped the overall flow of the piece. By starting with a description of the piece and putting the image in the mind of the reader. Then, breaking down each part of the image and analyzing what they mean and their contributions to the image as a whole. From there, I covered the overall meaning of the ad and who the primary target audience is. Lastly, it was summed up with a conclusion, giving the

Elliott-Hamper 2 reader all the main points in a concise form. Overall, writing this piece was an experience. Receiving feedback, then using it to make my writing better, and taking into consideration things like flow, organization, and wording all contributed to making this the final product that you’ll be reading. Elliott-Hamper 3 English 101 09 September 2023 Hulk Have Boo Boo Ad Band-Aid is a huge, recognizable brand. They have achieved this by creating effective advertisements such as the ‘Hulk Have Boo Boo’ ad, for the flexible fabric Band-Aid. The layout of this ad is very simplistic. To start, there is a green light to dark ombre, from the center of the ad to the sides. A large, green hand and forearm can be seen emerging from the upper left corner, stopping in the middle of the ad. This arm seems to be one of the famous characters ‘The Hulk.’ The hand has a beige-colored band-aid wrapped around the pointer finger. The box for the products can be seen in the lower right corner. Green is the dominant color in this ad, as it is the color of the background and the hand. It’s the focus of the ad, given that the majority of the ad is different shades of green. This piece could be displayed in many different places. It could be a page in a magazine or newspaper, it could be on a billboard or a screen in a busy place like Times Square, or it could simply be on a personal device as an ad in a mobile game or a commercial on live TV. When choosing an artifact for this assignment, I looked over each ad that was provided. This one in particular caught my eye because it’s monochromatic but still grabs your attention. The beige of the band-aid draws your attention from the background and to the product. I love the simplistic look of the ad, it’s very easy on the eyes but holds a deeper meaning, which is revealed when analyzing it. The most defining element of this artifact is the band-aid on the finger, because of its color difference from the rest of the piece, the hand itself, which is a main focal point given the detail, placement, and size, and the use of a single color, green, which can be seen throughout the piece.
