Problem/Solution Essay: Making Connections and Predictions and Reading Analysis
I am not sure I could clearly explain problem/solution essays, though I have written at
least one before.
When I first came to the states, my parents and I researched which schools in the area
had a great education for me and if I could fit there. Because it was a new area for us and
didn’t know how things were processed, my parents asked locals who lived in the area and got
help regarding what do to while we searched for the right school. After some guidance from
locals, friends, and research online, I found the right school.
In the Business field, I think that trying to have a certain flow of marketing and
managing will always have problems and solutions to be discovered. People in this pathway
are going to try to find to increase sales and make new changes for customers to approach
them, so they will always figure out what can be done better than their last attempt.
The first key takeaway given in the essay is her thesis stating the problem regarding
recycling and showing reasons why it is necessary for human life. I liked how she chose a
topic that was needed for everyone, not only in one area specifically. “Because of the
repercussions of wastefulness, recycling is essential. Thus, it should be universally available
and streamlined for maximum benefits” (Hanna, 1).
The second key takeaway given in the essay is that her topic, recycling, is for the
support of the community and how much of an impact it will cause. She provided a message

at the end of her essay and recommended whom to contact for support. This was a nice touch
to add. “If you see the need for this change to occur, contact your administrative officials in
Business Affairs and tell them you want to see improved recycling efforts on your campus!”
(Hannah 7).
The last key takeaway given in the essay is that she had all sources and support
organized on one page. The page is shown on page 6.
