TITLE OF YOUR PAPER CLINICAL EXPERIENCE B 2 Clinical Field Experience B: Reading, Writing, and Grammar Strategies In the 9-12 grade English classroom that I observed, there aren’t many ELL students, and the ones that are there have a higher proficiency in the English language. There aren’t many strategies being implemented to solely accommodate these students since it isn’t truly needed. However, this doesn’t mean there are no strategies in place at all since there are ELL students and they area at different levels. One instructional strategy that I noticed being implemented to help improve reading skills is by modifying learning material. In order to not make ELL students feel singled out since the class sizes are very small. My mentor teacher modifies reading content to fit all students. So, she will purp osefully use modified text that can work for all reading levels and proficiencies, and they read aloud together as a class. If there is a student who struggles with certain words, she gives them t ime to try and pronounce the word themselves before providing assistance. The other students are also very supportive of their classmates and often work in groups to c omplete assignments and read together. This method of cooperative learning helps to improve the language capabilities of students as well. When completing writing assignments, she also has her students complete a graphic organizer prior to writing to help them organize their thoughts before completing an assignment. She also uses the organizer and the paper itself to provide productive feed back to students, so they know what to work on moving forward. These students are at various levels but are at a higher proficiency level. If th ere were students will lower proficiency , these same methods could work but students could also benefit from more one-on- one assistance especially since these class sizes are much smaller than average. <Title of Your Paper> This first paragraph is your introduction (Approximately 150 words) . Begin with a strong grabber/intro statement go get the reader’s attention, and end with a focused purpose statement for the paper. The Purpose Statement is similar to a thesis statement, only slightly different. The main ideas of the overall essay must be included in your introduction paragraph. From those main ideas, the Purpose Statement provides the purpose, scope, and direction of the paper. First Heading
