AZUR COMPANY TRUCKING CARGO
1347 Colin Ave
White Rock, HE V53 8F0
Memorandum

To:
Carina Cardoso, Head of Engineering Department
From:
Mariyam Sohail, Engineering technician leader
Subject:
Opportunity to raise profits and reduce carbon footprint
Introduction
Over the past decade the carbon awareness around the globe has increased, with big companies
like Pepsi and Walmart assessing their own carbon footprint. As the engineering world keeps
evolving and adapting, more than 100 companies in Canada have transitioned to using electric
transportation methods. This not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also opens up additional
funding opportunities from the Canadian government.
The trucking industry has been striving due to the constant need for transport. However, online
news publications and automotive websites have started to inquire about how dangerous these
carbon emissions produced by large trucks are? Some of these sources are EPA[1], BBC science
focus[2] alongside modern day news sources such as The New York Times[3]
.As the world continues to grapple with the impacts of climate change, many individuals are
becoming increasingly concerned about their environmental footprint. To maintain investor trust
and regain credibility with clients, it is crucial for Azur trucking companies to make changes
within their engineering department and actively work towards becoming an eco-friendly
company. This will benefit Azur trucking by:
●
Reducing the overall cost of maintenance
●
Government paid charging stations
●
Rebate on taxes
●
Providing a better brand image
●
Reducing carbon footprint
I believe that by implementing these factors, we can establish a competitive advantage over our
rival trucking and transportation enterprises. Our trucks will be engineered to produce zero
emissions and will be manufactured using components that are both cruelty-free and
emission-free. This will pave the way for a truly innovative and environmentally conscious
trucking industry in the 21st century, by embracing these environmentally conscious initiatives,
we will capture the interest of the emerging cohort of investors and customers who are actively
seeking to drive positive change in our ecosystem. This strategic approach will not only enhance
our reputation but also position us as a leader in implementing sustainable practices.
If the proposal is approved, I would suggest forming a team of three engineering technicians,
including myself, to conduct extensive market research in China. China has demonstrated
exceptional success in the electric truck market, selling an impressive 36,000 units, which
represents a staggering 91% of the global total. Notably, no other country has achieved sales
exceeding 1,000 new electric trucks in a single year. To facilitate this endeavor, I kindly request
that the company cover the project costs. Two team members will be dispatched to China to
conduct in-depth research on the trucks, while one team member will remain in Canada to
explore government grants pertaining to electric vehicles. I will provide a comprehensive cost
breakdown in the table below.
