1 Unit 7: Final Project 2 Ariel Hodges Belhaven University EDU 621: Assessing Student Learning Dr. Rebekah Mincey August 12, 2023
2 Analysis of Multiple-Choice and Constructed-Response Questions ● The detailed assessment is targeted toward 8th graders. ● The accommodated standards are below: Multiple-Choice 1. CCSS.ELA-Informational .RI.8.8 Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, distinguishing claims that are supported by reasons and evidence from claims that are not. 2. CCSS.ELA-Informational .RI.8.5 Analyze how a particular sentence, paragraph, chapter, or section fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the ideas. 3. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.1 4. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.5 5. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.6 Determine an author's point of view or purpose in a text and explain how it is conveyed in the text. 6. CCSS.ELA-Informational .RI 8.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative, connotative, and technical meanings. 7. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.3 Analyze in detail how a key individual, event, or idea is introduced, illustrated, and elaborated in a text (e.g., through examples or anecdotes). 8. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.1 Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. 9. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.1 10. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.3 3
3 Constructed-Response 11. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 6.7 Integrate information presented in different media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as in words to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue. 12. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.5 13. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.7 14. CCSS.ELA-Informational RI 8.7 15. CCSS.ELA-Informational 8.1-9 The examination contains ten questions. One of them, however, necessitates a Part B response. The student will receive 10 points per question for queries 1 through 9. For number 10, each component will be worth 5 points. The constructed responses have varying weightings. As this requires students to focus on their writing and response abilities, they will receive a distinct set of grades. This implies that students will receive two evaluations. Students will earn 10 points for numerals 11 through 14. For question 15, they will receive 20 points because it requires more logical information, a few queries, and textual evidence to support their responses. Students should increase their knowledge to answer queries at their level of depth of knowledge. They will not receive a sufficient grade if they do not elaborate and state the evident. These inquiries must be evaluated in light of the circumstances. The queries were selected so that students could use their imaginations to go beyond what they had just read. Test of Essay Analysis and Scoring Rubric The essay segment of this assessment is appropriate for students in middle to early seventh grade.
