D095 Task 3
A1. One problem I can solve by interacting with the students is limiting distractions by engaging the students to keep them on the task at hand. The student who was disinterested in the assignment because of a lack of closeness to their family, needed additional encouragement. I helped to peak interest through remembering some of their favorite memories of their childhood that could be pulled into the assignment. A2. One aspect of the interaction with a student, that I found successful, was how the English learner grasped the concept of the assignment when I told him to pull from family traditions. By remembering where he comes from, he was able to brainstorm three facts more quickly. The student’s level of engagement changed quickly and he seemed more confident.
A3. One aspect of the interaction I would have done different, would have been to engage the student who is in danger of failing in a more compassionate manner. I was open to the attitude, but I could not seem to get him to work independently. He was disengaged, but he was also overwhelmed with his after
school responsibilities. I could have tried a more one on one approach, but I did not.
