2 Reflective Essay Information literacy combines communication skills, critical thinking, and ethical research. With the rise in digital sources, reputable sources seem easier to find, but finding which sources are credible has become harder with the large variety of resources. In this paper, I will discuss the impact of information literacy. I will address the effect of information literacy, societal views, and the evolution of information into the digital world. Information literacy is being able to use research skills to find information and be able to verify that the data is accurate —the communicative skills to be able to convey that information to others effectively (Library Association, 2000). We, researchers, may be able to obtain a large amount of information on a specific subject, but not all the information is credible or relevant for the purpose of the research. The "CRAAP" method helps decern between information we gather in research and information that is credible and relevant to the topic. C.R.A.A.P stands for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose and is used to test information for research (Kurpiel, 2023). Information privilege is when one group has greater access to information that another and may be attributed to financial background, access to technology, or social status (Saunders, 2017). Access to information differs from person to person. The higher the population of information literate individuals, the greater the likelihood of success in school , work, and social settings. The lack of information literacy can be equivalated with lack of any other literary tool such as printed textbooks. Suppose a person needs the technology to use the Internet to research information, as the Internet has become the fastest way to help you gather information and check the credibility of sources. In that instance, people will need to dig through more information to locate sources in order to get credible information. These are challenges that some people face when gathering information, and information literacy is an important aspect today. Information
