Final Exam, GEOG 2210, Spring 2022, Dr. Hodge FINAL EXAM: GEOG 2210, Maps and Mapping, Dr. Hodge Student Legal Name: Brendan Kazay UTC ID: BSC485 Instructions: This exam is worth 30 points. You will submit one PDF or Word document for your Final “Exam”. If your submission file is not a PDF or Word document, you risk possibly making a 0 for your exam grade. Don’t take that risk. Please use a computer at UTC if your own personal computer is giving you trouble. Please follow the instructions for each specific problem. The point value is noted for each problem at the end of each question. Please upload your completed PDF or Word document to the Final Exam Submission in Canvas. I will be grading these via Speedgrader. If for some reason you are unable to upload your submission in Canvas, please email your file directly to my official UTC email. Please do this by 11:59pm on April 29, 2022, as that is the deadline for your Final Exam submission. Important: Please name your Final Exam submission file: Last Name_First Name_FINAL EXAM_GEOG 2210_Spring 2022_Dr. Hodge For example, if I was a student, my Final Exam submission file would be named: Hodge_Joshua_FINAL EXAM_GEOG 2210_Spring 2022_Dr. Hodge 1. Please see the “Great Hand Drawn Map” example file in Canvas, Modules or Canvas, Files, Final Exam Files. This is a map from a student and shows a great example of a map that was drawn in January 2022 (our First Hand Drawn Map). Please draw a NEW hand-drawn map and improve it based on what you have learned from the class. Be sure you include all the essential elements of a map. Your map can be the same place as your first map or of a different place. I recommend watching my Google Earth Map Creation video as you can see all the essential elements of a map. You can also review all of your old graded items in Canvas, see lecture videos, lecture PDFs and the Tyner and Krygier textbooks. Please take a high-quality photograph or color scan of your map and insert it here. Please make sure your map is visible here below. Feel free to insert your map on the next page if you do not have enough space below. If your hand drawn map does not come out well after being pasted into your word document, you can also upload it to Canvas separately as a JPEG/JPG file. If you do this, please leave a comment to let me know. (10 points) Page 1 of 7

Final Exam, GEOG 2210, Spring 2022, Dr. Hodge 2. Watch my instructional video (Canvas, Modules or Kaltura) on how to make a map in Google Earth. Also watch the Instructional Video on how to save a KMZ file as you also need to do that at the same time that you are finished making your map in Google Earth (for number 3 below). The KMZ file needs to be created/saved before you shut down Google Earth. Also, see example Google Earth maps in Canvas, Modules or Canvas, Files. There is also a PDF I uploaded with all the example maps in the same file. You need to make a map with a similar map scale to the “Property in Kaufman County Map”. This is the BEST EXAMPLE of a good large-scale map. Please include grid lines in latitude and longitude on your map. The map can be anywhere in the world. Please make sure it is a place you are familiar with, so you know what you are looking at and how to put placemarks on various places. For example, it could be a map of a park that you like, or maybe a farm somewhere. It could be anywhere in the world. Do not make a map of only water where the only thing on the legend would be “Ocean”. Make sure your map is of a land surface or incorporates both land and water (such as along a river, lake or beach, etc.). Your map could also incorporate snow or ice, but make sure plenty of identifiable features are present. Do not include a map of a zoomed in part of Antarctica where it is only white, and you cannot see any features at all. Please insert your map below as a JPEG/JPG. Again, like in number 1, if for some reason you cannot paste your completed map below, please upload as a JPEG/JPG in speeedgrader and notify me about that. (12 points) Page 3 of 7
