Use a pen or pencil to mark the location of the surface low-pressure system on this map. 3. What is the barometric pressure in the center of the low-pressure system? It’s slightly less than 1000 mb. 4. Use a pen or pencil to make arrows showing how the surface winds would cross the isobars in this system. 5. Examine the weather map marked #2. This map shows radar echoes from precipitation. Draw in frontal boundaries that would be consistent with the location and severity of the precipitation. Be sure to use the proper symbols for the front(s). 6. What do you think the outlined boxes on the map represent? I think it shows severe/harsh weather. 7. Examine the weather map marked # 3. Use a pen or pencil to label the types of fronts shown on this map and explain what forms them. Does this match the fronts you drew in on the previous map? They do match. A cold front happens when cool air goes over warm air. A warm front happens when warm air goes over a cold section. 8. Use the proper symbols to identify the air masses that are interacting along the boundaries. 9. On the map, mark the “warm”, “cool”, and “cold” sectors with a pen or pencil. 10. Use several large arrows to show the overall wind pattern around the fronts on the map. 11. Draw a dotted line starting at the center of the low-pressure symbol indicating the likely trajectory of this storm system. 12. Examine the infrared satellite image marked #4. Using the maps that you have already examined, draw in the fronts on this image. Do you recognize the classic comma pattern in the clouds?
