Restoration Method
Beach Cleanups
Add more recycle and trash bins on
beaches.
Monthly volunteered beach
cleanups.
Not only do beach cleanups but
cleanups at roadways that are near
beaches.
Educate people on the land and how
we can keep it clean and protected.
What is the issue
What is going on?
Manini’s are being found dead on the
shorelines of Hawai’i. After concise
research, we have found that the
death of these Manini is due to
plastic that has been ingested!
(Hawaii Northshore Fishing, 2015).

How can we put a halt
to this issue?
(Bitanga, 2021)
Why would it work?
According to (Beach.com, 2019). It is
being stated that “beach cleanups are
a worthy cause to bring people
together to focus on the environment
and learn ways to protect it.”
Educate people to keep our
places clean.
Protect local marine life along
shorelines.
Time frame to complete the
plan.
To execute this plan, it would take
about six to eight months. However, to
actually make a huge difference; It
would take about a little over a year.
Two examples of how this
worked in another situation.
One situation in which a cleanup has
helped to save marine life was in the
situation which is a personal situation.
At a school club ran beach cleanup,
there was a bundle of fishnet that has
washed up near the shoreline. As it was
being pulled out, people noticed that
there was a turtle stuck in the net.
People then grabbed scissors and
knifes and freed the turtle out of the
net. Save the Sea Turtles International
was called to come and check on the
turtle’s well-being.
Another situation in which a cleanup
has helped to save marine life was in
another personal situation with my
friends. They went to a beach where
drug activity is known to happen. And
in the cleanup, some when into the
water to search for trash in it. Then
towards the end of the cleanup
everyone has gathered together and
collected a total of 50lbs of plastic and
needles, plus 120lbs worth of fishing
lines and nets.
“Beach cleanup projects
are like ripples in a pond.
They aid in beach
restoration. They prevent
debris from flowing back
into the ocean. They also
protect marine life from
getting killed due to
debris.”
(Ocean Blue Environmental
(Bitanga, 2021)]
End goal of restoration
project.
Create a cleaner, safer space
for Papio’s to live in.
Educate people about the
importance of keeping our
marine life safe and how
pollution has big effects on our
marine life and their biome!
Do monthly beach cleanups for
a year.
Add more trash and recycling
bins to people have a place to
put their trash, instead of
leaving it on the beaches.
