Scientific Method: Crop Circles
Crop circles can be defined as “an area of standing crops that has been flattened in the
form of a circle or more complex pattern. No general cause of crop circles has been identified
although various natural and unorthodox explanations have been put forward; many of the circles
are known to have been hoaxes” (Oxford Languages). Crop circles have always been centered
around Alien phenomena, and have been a discussion of controversy among society on where
they come from and what their meaning or importance is.
One of the biggest discussions with crop circles is how they are created, as it couldn’t
possibly be man made. These large, symmetrical shapes appearing overnight have to have some
sort of supernatural phenomena explanation and society as a whole has associated crop circles
with unidentified flying objects (UFOs) commonly referencing Aliens. The scientific method can
be described as the process of making observations, noting differences and questions, and then
finding answers through testing and experiments; Aliens with UFO’s creating crop circles is not
testable, simple, nor fits into conservatism while testing a hypothesis; however it would provide
scope and fruitful discoveries if found applicable and scientifically proven.

Although Aliens have seem to be the ones to blame, it is widely known to be a hoax
among attention seeking farmers; which inspired many more to follow,
“Doug Bower and Dave
Chorley, made headlines by claiming that it was they who started the phenomenon in 1978 with
the use of simple tools consisting of a plank of wood, rope, and a baseball cap fitted with a loop
of wire to help them walk in straight lines'' (Wikipedia). Attention seeking behaviors can come
from jealousy or loneliness; or a farmer may be seeking more publicity for their products or
services. Furthermore, some people just enjoy causing controversies and creating drama between
others. There has been talk long enough to dismiss Alien presence among us, but further
debunked with scientific proof and evidence when the individuals came forward to claim they
made the crop circles themselves.
In conclusion, crop circles have always been centered around Alien phenomena, and have
been a discussion of controversy among society about where they are from and the meaning.
