The short papers are designed to assess the student’s ability to incorporate various aspects of cognitive environment criticism to the study of an Old Testament book. Understanding issues of geography and archeology will help shed light on the often complicated relationships between ancient Israel and her neighbors. I
NSTRUCTIONS
Write a geographical and archaeological overview of the Old Testament book you’ve chosen for your short papers and Research Paper Assignment
, being careful to incorporate a summary of geographically and archaeologically relevant issues in the broader world of the ancient Near East. By “archaeology” is not
meant a survey of inscriptions or ANE literature, but an explanation of how important excavations, material culture, etc. have contributed to our understanding of your chosen book. This will require you to do some digging into scholarly academic journals in the field of archaeology.
Requirements:
The paper must be a minimum of 1,750 words of content in length

This does not include the title page, abstract, or bibliography.
The paper must be in current Turabian format.
The paper must incorporate at least 6 new scholarly resources
Acceptable sources include journal articles or books (you may include resources such as the course textbooks and resources used in previous papers, but you must also
include 6 new
resources for each short paper).
