MGN310 In Class Activity: Emergency Remote Teaching Background The College was forced to adjust its teaching delivery approach in March of 2020 in response to the Covid-19 virus. This approach was continued for the Spring 2020 semester and was used in planning course delivery for the Fall 2020 semester. Activity Instructions Please review and answer the four (4) questions below in the table provided for Your Answer. 1. How has moving to the Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) delivery method impacted your approach to learning and studying in your courses? Your Answer I took a course which was online (Emergency Remote Teaching) for spring 2020 due to Covid-19. My approach to learning was affected because I had to become more self motivated in order to structure my time efficiently to complete homework and go through all the lectures. This is because there was no set schedule or times for lectures as there is when going to college at the campus. As for studying, there were barriers such as not being able to interact with other people. Interacting with other people is helpful to me because we can share information and expand each others perspective and learning. 2. From your experience, what skills and attitudes are essential in this new learning environment? Your Answer The skills and attitudes that I find essential in this new learning environment include structuring my time, prioritizing what is most important, having a positive attitude, independence, self-motivation and learning how to over come anxiety and worry about the uncertainty of the future. 3. How might this new environment impact the world of full-time work that you may be entering two years from now? Your Answer This new environment could impact full time work in my field of study 2 years from now because employers may take a more online approach. For example, employee meetings may take place online. There may be a use of technology more in general. Also, people could work from home more as a result of Covid-19. 4. How might your answer to question #3 above impact you directly? Your Answer My answer to question 3 may have an affect on me directly because I may find myself working from home more often rather than an office environment. I will have to become even more comfortable using technology as a means of communication. I may not have as close of working relationships with my co-workers. 1
