Change Management:
Change management refers to the process of planning, implementing, and monitoring changes
within an organization to minimize negative impacts and maximize benefits. The objectives of
change management include identifying potential changes, assessing their impact, developing,
and implementing plans, and monitoring progress to ensure successful adoption.
To adapt change management to my career needs as a health informaticist, I would focus on
understanding the unique challenges associated with implementing new health information
technology systems and ensuring ensure all parties participating in the process are informed and
involved. This might involve conducting a thorough assessment of current systems and
workflows, identifying areas for improvement, and developing a comprehensive plan for
implementing new technology.
In my career as a health informaticist, I predict that I will utilize change management topics and
objectives on a regular basis. This might include identifying areas for improvement in current
processes, such as electronic health record (EHR) documentation or patient engagement and
developing and implementing plans to address these issues. It could also involve managing the
rollout of new technology systems or ensuring that staff are trained and equipped to use these
systems effectively.
One example of the importance of change management in healthcare can be seen in the
implementation of new EHR systems. A study by Adler-Milstein et al. (2014) found that
hospitals that engaged in robust change management processes were more likely to successfully
implement new EHR systems and achieve meaningful use than those that did not. This highlights
the importance of carefully planning and managing change in healthcare organizations to ensure
successful adoption and positive outcomes.
Generational Differences:
Generational differences refer to the distinct characteristics and attitudes of different age groups,
which can have a significant impact on the workplace (
Bridge,2019). Understanding these
differences can help organizations to better manage their workforce and improve communication
and collaboration across different generations.

The objectives of understanding generational differences include improving communication and
collaboration between different age groups, reducing conflict and misunderstandings, and
creating a more inclusive and productive work environmen

programs and initiatives designed to address specific issues related to different age groups.
To adapt generational differences to meet one's career needs, it is essential to develop an
understanding of the different characteristics and attitudes of different age groups and how they

research, attending training sessions and workshops, and seeking out mentorship and guidance
from more experienced colleagues.
In my career as a healthcare professional, understanding generational differences will be critical
to effectively manage and communicate with patients and colleagues from different age groups.
For example, older patients may have different expectations and preferences for healthcare
delivery than younger patients, and healthcare providers must be able to adapt to these
differences to provide the best possible care.
In addition, understanding generational differences can help healthcare organizations to attract
and retain talent from different age groups, creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce. By
implementing programs and initiatives that address the specific needs and preferences of
different age groups, healthcare organizations can create a more positive and productive work
environment for all employees.
Adult Learning:
Adult learning refers to the process of learning that occurs in adulthood, which is often driven by
personal and professional goals and interests (Knowles, Holton III, & Swanson, 2014).
Understanding adult learning can help individuals and organizations to design more effective
training and development programs that meet the needs and preferences of adult learners.
The objectives of adult learning include enhancing knowledge and skills, improving job
performance, and achieving personal and professional goals. Adult learners often have different
learning styles and preferences than younger learners and may require more flexibility and
autonomy in their learning process.

To adapt adult learning to meet one's career needs, it is important to develop an understanding of
the different learning styles and preferences of adult learners, as well as the factors that can

be achieved through attending training and development programs that are designed for adult
learners, as well as seeking out mentorship and guidance from more experienced colleagues.
In my career as a healthcare professional, understanding adult learning will be critical to
developing effective training and development programs for both staff and patients. For example,
patients may require different approaches to health education depending on their age, literacy
level, and cultural background. By understanding adult learning principles, healthcare providers
can design and deliver educational materials and programs that are more engaging and effective.
In addition, understanding adult learning can also be beneficial for professional development, as
it can help individuals to identify their own learning styles and preferences and develop more
effective strategies for achieving their goals.
Team Building: Team building refers to the process of forming and strengthening relationships within a team to
improve communication, collaboration, and productivity. The objectives of team building
include increasing trust among team members, enhancing communication skills, improving
problem-solving abilities, and promoting a sense of unity and shared purpose within the team.
To adapt team building to my career needs, I plan to actively seek out opportunities to work
collaboratively with others and participate in team-building activities both within and outside of
the workplace. I will also strive to improve my communication skills, both verbal and written,
and seek feedback from colleagues to identify areas for improvement.
In my future career, I will utilize team building topics/objectives by developing and leading
team-building activities that are tailored to the specific needs of the team. For example, I may
facilitate group brainstorming sessions or organize team outings to foster a sense of community
and collaboration. By utilizing team building strategies, I aim to cultivate a positive and
productive work environment that promotes innovation and success.

Communication:
Communication plan is a strategic tool for planning and managing communication activities in a
project or organization. It involves the identification of target audiences, the development of key
messages, and the selection of appropriate communication channels to convey those messages
effectively. A communication plan aims to ensure that all stakeholders are informed, engaged,
and able to contribute to the success of the project or organization.
To adapt the communication plan to my career needs as a health informaticist, I would focus on
incorporating relevant health information and technology communication strategies to
communicate with different stakeholders in the healthcare industry, such as patients, healthcare
providers, and policymakers (Pappas, 2019). I would also emphasize the use of clear and concise
language and the selection of appropriate communication channels, such as electronic health
record systems, mobile health apps, and social media platforms (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2014).
In my career as a health informaticist, I would utilize the communication plan to improve patient
engagement and education, promote the adoption of health information technologies, and ensure
effective communication among different stakeholders in the healthcare industry. For instance, I
could use the communication plan to develop a patient engagement strategy for a new telehealth
program and to communicate the benefits of the program to patients and healthcare providers. I
could also use the communication plan to communicate the implementation of a new electronic
health record system to healthcare providers and to provide training and support on its use.
Cyber Security:
Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, and sensitive
information from unauthorized access, theft, and damage (Whitman & Mattord, 2019). The
objectives of cybersecurity include confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
To adapt cybersecurity to my career needs, I plan to stay updated with the latest technologies and
threats in the field. I will also work on improving my technical skills and obtaining relevant
certifications in cybersecurity. Additionally, I will emphasize the importance of cybersecurity in
all aspects of my work and encourage my colleagues to do the same.
