Over the last 50 years, the average weight of Americans has increased by about 30 pounds. List 4 possible explanations for this. List 4 complications associated with diabetes, and list the key controllable factor for preventing Type 2 diabetes. Define metabolic syndrome. (5 points) A cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.   Conditions include; Large waistline, High triglyceride level, Low HDL level, High blood pressure, and high fasting blood sugar. 4. Based on the chart in Chapter 6, list the recommended percent body fat range for a female between the ages of 20-39 years old? (4 points) 21-32%

(25 points) - Reduce your caloric intake by 500 to 1000 calories per day o If you consume 2000 calories each day o You need to burn 2500 each day - 2000 (energy input) - 2500 (energy output) = -500 calories With a negative energy balance of 500 calories per day, you would have a total calorie deficit of 3500 calories per week; or 1 pound per week. In order to lose 5 pounds in the month, you would need to increase to burning 650 calories per day or 4550 per week or 18200 in a month to get to 5.2lbs lost. PART C:  Using Lab 6.1 in the text book, entitled "Assessing Body Mass Index and Body Composition", calculate your Body Mass Index. Show your math, and list the classification of your BMI. There is an alternative formula in Chapter 6 for calculating BMI, which you may also use if you want, but you still must show your math and list your classification.
