Interventions – Care Plan Template
Proposed Interventions
All answers should be based on the case study and care plan, and must examine and analyze the proposed
interventions for the family. For additional prompting questions, see the Milestone Two section of the Final
Project Guidelines and Rubric document.
Assess the extent to which interventions align with legal standards. What legal standards are applicable to this
case? How do the interventions take these into consideration? Are there places where the interventions do not
align with legal standards?
“Human service professionals protect the client’s right to privacy and confidentiality except when such
confidentiality would cause serious harm to the client or others, when agency guidelines state
otherwise, or under other stated conditions” (Allen, 2015). Finding the most effective interventions and
care plans for a client is an essential part of a human service professional’s job, however the clients still
have a right to their confidentiality and privacy. When it comes to the case at hand, all involved have
the right to privacy and confidentiality, meaning this legal standard would be applicable within their
case. However, it is important for a human service professional to know and understand the laws in
place. Within this case, Eloni has shown aggressive behavior, and if he were to express the urge or want
to harm others or cause damage, it would be an indicator that breaking confidentiality is acceptable to
ensure the safety of Eloni, as well as others around him.
Assess the extent to which interventions align with ethical guidelines. What ethical guidelines are applicable to
this case? How do the interventions take these into consideration? Are there places where the interventions do
not align with ethical guidelines?
Ethical guidelines are a way to ensure that a human service professional conducts ethical decision
making and careful choices (NOHS, 2015). Ethical standard number 11 states “Human service
professionals are knowledgeable about their cultures and communities within which they practice. They
are aware of multiculturalism in society and its impact on the community as well as individuals within
the community. They respect the cultures and beliefs of individuals and groups” (NOHS,2015). This
standard applies to this case due to the family being of Pacific Island decent. Researching and being
knowledgeable about the Pacific Islander heritage and any customs or beliefs that they may hold will
help better align care for the family. Having the knowledge of the heritage and culture will tell the
human service professional if there are any barriers that need to be followed during the decision-making
process when it comes to aligning the appropriate care for the family. “Among many influencing
factors, emphasis on PI cultural strengths is fundamental to generating positive health and mental health
outcomes. These cultural strengths have sustained Pacific Islanders through experiences of
colonization, immigration, and the resulting experiences of historical trauma” (NLM,2020).
Assess the extent to which primary intervention strategies address crises. How do the interventions address
primary crises? How will these interventions benefit the family? How do they not address primary crises? What is
an intervention that would address primary crises and how would this benefit the clients?
The focus of primary intervention is to reduce or eliminate potential risks to the health of any given
person. “Primary intervention aims to prevent disease or injury before it ever occurs. This is done by
preventing exposures to hazards that cause disease or injury, altering unhealthy or unsafe behaviors that
can lead to disease or injury, and increasing resistance to disease or injury should exposure occur”
(Institute for Work and Health, 2015). The form of primary intervention within this case was Eloni
