Ariba Mirza HEAL 250 Mini Lesson Worksheet (15 points) Create your mini presentation based on your answers on this worksheet . This is part 2 of this 3-part project. 1. Health Education Standard of Learning you selected on the Plan (1 point): Identify how alcohol and other drugs increase the risk of injury. 2. Grade Level (1 point): 9 th grade. 3. Learning Goal (What do you want your students to learn?) (1 point): What I would want students to take away from my plan is how alcohol and other drugs can really affect your mental and physical well-being and I would want them to recognize the dangers associated with the use and understand how it can affect your body. 4. Summary of the content (4 key concepts) of your mini presentation (8 points): The four key concepts I would include are 1. Impaired Physical and Cognitive Function, 2. Reduced Inhibition and Risky behaviors, 3. Impaired Driving and Traffic Accidents, 4. Overdose, Poisoning, and Mental Health Impacts. 5. How will you check for understanding (e.g. an activity to apply/practice the content, small group discussion, exit ticket, students create a poster, etc.)? Be specific about the instructions for the activity and the questions you will ask your students to check for understanding (2 points). I would have the students create a poster with a drawing of a body and have them point out how alcohol or drugs can affect each body part and how over time it can change your body/mind. I will also ask them to boldly outline which ones they think are most dangerous or most likely to cause risk of injury.
6. Sources (must be .org, .edu and/or .gov) used to create your mini presentation (2 points): https://www.samhsa.gov/adult-drug-use https://www.gatewayfoundation.org/about-gateway-foundation/faqs/effects-of-drug-abuse/ Healthsmartva.org
