1st Grade Class ● Classroom expectations created as a class at the beginning of the school year and posted in the classroom ● Read “Our Class is a Family”, reading books to the whole class allows the teacher to address topics that affect and/or can benefit the entire class. (Eisenman, G. , Harper, R., 2016) ● The classroom is treated as a family, a community’s and family’s culture is shaped by its students and they way they interact with each other. ● Students will be allowed to state their opinions on how students should be addressed when breaking the rules, and as a class create consequences for disobeying the rules ● Students and the teacher should have clear and open communication
Philosophy of Education ● I believe the world of each student is where education focuses and begins ● My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and need an enjoyable learning atmosphere in which to grow mentally, physically, and socially. ● As an educator, I will guide my students to reach their full potential by motivating and encouraging them. I will also create a safe and comfortable environment where my students will feel comfortable and confident in their learning by: 1. Acting as a guide to my students 2. Allow my students to have access to different learning styles 3. Choices 4. Safe environment 5. Technology where students can be engaged
Physical Design of Classroom ● “Monitoring by the teacher is critical to good classroom management”. Desk arrangement is easy to visibly observe students. ● Neatly arranged with several storage options ● Enough space for students to transition safely ● Specific areas for small groups and whole group work ● Smart devices and integrated technology for students to access
Day to Day Routine ● Daily schedule posted in the classroom ● Communicate with students of any schedule changes at the beginning of the day ● Allow my students to practice their daily schedule at the beginning of the school year, transitioning from one activity to another ● Schedule will be student friendly for them to understand it (Pocket chart schedule)
