Good Afternoon All, According to (
Determinants of Health
, n.d.) many elements interact to influence the health of individuals
and societies. People's health is determined by their circumstances and their environment. Where we live, the state of our environment, genetics, our income and education level, and our relationships with friends and family all have a significant impact on health, whereas more commonly considered factors such as access and use of health care services often have less of an impact. Determinants of health are important in shaping health policy because they represent the underlying variables that determine population health outcomes. The social, economic, environmental, and behavioral circumstances of an individual or a group are among the factors that influence their health. These characteristics can have a significant impact on health disparities, health behaviors, and the allocation of healthcare resources. Policymakers must consider the socioeconomic determinants of health when developing health policies in order to develop successful solutions that address the root causes of health problems and improve equitable access to healthcare services (

Reply 2 Good Morning Jamie, Thanks for posting. According to (
Determinants of Health
, n.d.) other determinants of health include, safe drinking water and clean air, as well as safe workplaces, homes, communities, and highways, all contribute to excellent health. Employment and working conditions. People who work are healthier, especially if they have more influence over their working conditions. Better health is associated with
increased support from family, friends, and communities. Customs and traditions, as well as family and community beliefs, all have an impact on health. Inheritance influences lifespan, health, and the probability of developing specific diseases. Personal behavior and coping skills - healthy eating, physical activity, smoking, drinking, and how we deal with life's stressors and problems - all have an impact on our health. Many of the health determinants are unlikely to be directly controllable by individuals.

Good Afternoon Shannon, Thanks for sharing. A person's health condition is largely determined by social determinants of health, which include, but are not limited to, employment, education, environment, sex or gender, and culture. Income is arguably the most significant social factor of health. We have all seen far too many patients whose health was negatively impacted by their inability to pay for their prescription drugs, a nutritious diet, or a suitable place to live. Understanding the factors that influence health is essential for creating strategies and treatments that improve population health outcomes in the context of health policy. In order to tackle the underlying causes of health disparities and inequalities, health policymakers must take these variables into account. Imagine living in a neighborhood where there is a high unemployment rate, poor housing, and restricted access to healthcare. In this case, the community's poor health outcomes may be influenced by the determinants of health, which include housing, healthcare access, and unemployment (Sawchuk, 2019).
