Threats – Unable to develop a great rapport with both community and community officials
Unable to get the support from community in order to continue to have a thriving organization
Unable to get the support from emergency department and referrals from them
B.
Internal and External Factors
Internal factors that will determine success or failure include, the hiring of physicians and healthcare staff, having up to date technology in order to provide care and assistance, and ensuring that the education and care provided to patients and families is quality. It’s very easy to hire someone that is in need of a job, however, it is not always easy to hire someone with a drive and passion for helping others. At Christus, it is imperative that anyone who is onboarded with our facilities is provided with adequate training and education in order for them to continue their careers with us, as well as provide quality care and compassion to any person they come into contact with, both physicians and healthcare workers alike. Up to date technology is a must in order to ensure that all patients are taken care of properly and are being provided every option when it comes to taking care of themselves and their health. This means that Christus will continue to strive to have the best IT team and research when it comes to technology and maintaining the facility over the years and months to come. Both care and education provided must be of quality. Christus came into this area and location with a mission to serve the lower income population and drive people out of emergency services. If the care and education are not of quality, patients and families will not be as willing and confident in our services. External factors would include the socio-economic status of the area, how easily a patient could access the facility, and community support of the organization. Christus is already aware and the area is in desperate need of quality care and education. However, the population of the community may not be as willing to try our services in the beginning. This is why Christus is determined to attend and create community wide events before and during opening in order to pour into our community and let these people know that we are here to help and provide the type of care they have been seeking. In order for a patient to be willing to continue to visit the facility, the accessibility of the organization must be easy. This means that parking lots should be easily visible with handicap access and a great view of the entrance to the facility. All traffic signs and signs leading to the facility must be in bold lettering, easy on the eyes, and provide
clear directions on where the patient should go. One of the most important factors in order for this facility to thrive is community support. Christus wants to ensure that the community knows we are here in order to help in more ways than one. Christus is dedicated to volunteering time and efforts into community wide events in order to better know the people of the community, as well as be more easily accessible to those patients who may be weary of hospital facilities. C.
Financial Impact
In order for the facility to thrive it has to have a proper cash flow in place, that is inevitable. However, Christus is aware that this area is not the wealthiest and many people do not have insurance benefits in order to back them up when it comes to receiving the proper healthcare. This means that Christus will utilize fundraising efforts in order to continue to receive the financial support needed to function. Christus has developed multiple health plans and memberships in order to take care of every patient and their unique situations. Christus will also work with every patient that may not have health insurance in order to find a plan that works best for them and their family in order to continue to receive care from the facility. D.
Additional Resources
Staffing will also be looked at on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis in order to ensure that patients are receiving proper care and the facility is continuing to thrive financially. Some areas of the organization will be staffed by volunteers in order to save money in the budget for payroll, supplies, and equipment. The budget created for the organization is very strict and has little room for errors, so ensuring that we hire healthcare managers who have a great understanding of how to stay within those means of the budget is very important. Equipment that is purchased should be purchased on the proper loan/leasing agreement so that services and work needed for those machines are provided in order to save on maintenance costs.
