The Director of Human Resources for a rural care center is dealing with high turnover of Care Center Administrators (CNAs) in all seven nursing wings. This has been happening for the past three months, affecting patient quality care and labor budget. The CNA is seeking ideas on how to recruit and retain more talented CNAs. An immediate assessment reveals that there will be 100% loss/turnover of CNAs this year. An emergency meeting is initiated to determine why the facility is losing so many CNAs, especially compared to similar care centers in the area.
To determine the reasons for employee turnover, the Director of Human Resources would ask team members questions about management issues, labor market issues, compensation issues, or a combination of these issues. Strategies from the assigned course reading would be implemented to address these issues. The questions would be different for each role and the strategies would be tailored
to the specific needs of the care center.
