Hi, Antony
Great Post!
The United States faces a severe shortage of registered nurses, a significant concern for healthcare organizations. According to the American Association, registered nurses have left their jobs in the last two years due to
reasons like stress, burnout, and retirement. The shortage of nurses not only impacts the nurses who try to manage the workload but also significantly affects the patient's health and well-being. Research suggests that nursing shortages can lead to a higher rate of medical errors, increased morbidity, and mortality rates. Hospitals with a high patient-to-nurse ratio may cause nurses to experience burnout and dissatisfaction, leading to higher patient mortality and failure-to-rescue rates. Some states have taken proactive measures to address this issue by passing legislation to limit patient-to-nurse
ratios. Adequate staffing levels can significantly reduce errors, increase patient satisfaction, and improve nurse retention rates.
