My name is Phillip Morrison and I live in the state of New Jersey. I am now engaged in the pursuit of a bachelor's degree in the field of Healthcare Administration. I have acquired substantial professional expertise within the healthcare industry. As a nurse, my current position aligns with my passion for offering support to those affected by mental health disorders. Within the context of my professional role, I am afforded the privilege of interacting with others who rely on my assistance and expertise. As a result, I see my profession as inherently satisfying. I get enjoyment from participating in cross-fitness activities and spending time with the family. I am really motivated to participate in this course, as I anticipate gaining a deeper understanding of healthcare research and evaluation. The improvement of mental health treatment is a necessary reform within the healthcare system. There exists a subset of individuals who experience ideation, attempts, or completion of suicide, however encounter barriers in accessing necessary assistance due to variables such as insurance coverage, credit limitations, or other related circumstances. While it is plausible that this phenomenon may have implications in several domains, my primary focus is to the realm of mental health. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, the number of suicides in the United States (48,344) exceeded the number of murders (18,830) by more than two and a half times. In order to bring about change, it is proposed that there be an increase in funds allocated towards mental health initiatives, the establishment community-based centers, and the potential recruitment of volunteers to provide therapeutic support to those requiring assistance. The presence of mental illness is prone to hinder both patients' and health systems' capacity to adequately treat chronic medical disorders. Individuals afflicted with mental diseases have an
increased propensity to acquire chronic illnesses, and the trajectory of their condition often exhibits a notably exacerbated course. Policy modifications have the potential to engender enhanced therapeutic interventions, increased availability of resources, and improved outcomes for those afflicted with mental health disorders. Public policies and procedures should prioritize the promotion of mental health awareness and early identification. Reference: Arango, C., Díaz-Caneja, C. M., McGorry, P. D., Rapoport, J., Sommer, I.
