Describe the historical context surrounding your historical event.
Chernobyl was initially a nuclear power plant that was part of the Soviet Union. The power plant
was one of the Soviet Union’s main geo-political ambitionary pieces in the area as well as one of

The Soviet Union's motivation for hiding the event and trying to cover it up was due to it being one of their geo-political ambitions and one of their highest points of power from a single source.
As well as, I believe they tried covering it up to show they were still a strong reigning power in the area so that their enemies didnt try to take over the area.
Articulate how the historical context caused or influenced your chosen historical event.
At the time of Chernobyl's incident the Soviet Union was fighting to hold power in the area and trying to be a dominating power in the world. The people in the area wernt necessarily on board with being part of the USSR or the Soviet Union which is why after the Chernobyl accident the USSR was cracking and crumbling. In 1991 only 5 short years after the event happened Ukrain declared independence and the loss of power proved the collapse of the Soviet Union and the USSR as a whole.
Explain how connecting your historical event and current event improves the understanding of your topic.
Using the events of Chernobyle as a baseline of providing power and versatility while also seeing the dangers to the people and environment, I believe the plant in Fukushima, Japan learned from the events that transpired and helped prepare for the worst case scenario. As anyone
