Garcia, Vietnam Veteran, Oral Interview (1969/2012) Summary of primary source: On October 6, 2012, the Library of Congress Veterans History Project interviewed George Garcia about his experiences as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Alternating between English and Spanish, Garcia told of early life in Brownsville, Texas, his time as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam, and his experience coming home from the war. The Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
