Event Date or Year of Event Explanation (25–50 words each) Attack on pearl harbor Dec 7 1941 We failed to express the seriousness of the attacks that the Japanese were planning after cracking their code, along with lack of sharing this information with major groups. Information sharing is key to a well established defense. The bay of pigs invasion April 1961 Information was failed to be given about the likelihood of success of the invasion without the additional support of the U.S. that was not given, and in turn severely hurt the relations with Cuba. If information sharing was a lot better than what it was, then the invasion wouldn’t have happened. The tet offensive Jan 31 1968 With better information gathering about the enemy (even though warnings were given) we would have been better at trying to predict how the enemy would have attacked. The Yom Kippur War October 1973 Once information was gathered on other country officials leaving at the same time as military moving in/around in Israel should have been something that we should have looked further into or adjusted to it. All of this movement at once was not a coincidence. The Iranian Revolution August 1978 The restraint of information gathering with in Iran was the mishap for the situation. If we had not had done that we would have gathered more intel on the upcoming revolution and probably saved our relationship with Iran. The Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan December 1979 With the information gathered and the Whitehouse either downplaying the warnings or distracted, we should have kept after the Whitehouse along with up to day by day information and sending it them as well to show the importance of the information given. The Collapse of the Soviet Union 1991 Intelligence gathered is good for military purposes, but for the internal factor it had lacked. With more training , or others gathering information within the soviet union we would have been able to gather more precise information on the crumbling of the soviet union. The Indian Nuclear Test May 1998 The event was blamed on an intel worker who was not on shift. What we could have done was have someone or people as a backup with training in the same field (or on call) with things that are deemed worry sum and need more information or context to what they are looking at.

Event Date or Year of Event Explanation (25–50 words each) The 9/11 Attacks Sept. 11, 2001 The U.S. could have connected the several attacks leading up to the 9/11 attacks with their information gathered showing that they were testing out the U.S. But sadly the government was not big on sharing information between departments yet until after 9/11. The Iraq War February 2003 Before proclaiming that they had WMD, we should have tried to gathered more information prior to the accusations and messing with the relationship. They should have also dug deeper into the so called “solid evidence” that they apparently had against them.
