Past, Present, Future The Culinary Industry has changed so much from when it began and it is ever changing. In the past, you typically only saw chefs with royalty. But around the time of the French Revolution and the end of the Renaissance period things started to change. At the beginning of the French Revolution there were about 50 restaurants in Paris and 10 years later there were about 500. Appliances like the stove were invented in the 1800’s which was around the time of the Industrial Revolution which forever changed the way of cooking. The biggest issue with cooking in the past was safety and sanitation. Back then they didn't understand things like bacteria, parasites, and the four-hour-rule. So that probably led lots of people to have food borne illnesses. In our present time most people don’t even question where cooking started; they just enjoy the food they are given. Chefs are seen everywhere. In hotels, country clubs, restaurants, etc. To become a chef isn't uncommon. In modern day we've learned how to prepare our food safely and how to not get our customers sick which I think is most important. Chefs these days are also experimenting with their dishes. It is common to use ingredients from different cultures and for it to taste delicious. The invention of technology has impacted the way of cooking too. Inventions of Steam-Jacketed Kettles to Tilting Skillets has made cooking quicker and easier. With that being said for the future I think more appliances are going to be made to make cooking even faster than it already is and to produce more than it already is. I only see good things for the future of the cooking industry.
