1. I believe that the men who can back from the Great War were affected differently then any of the previous wars, because this war was deadlier then any that came before it. The aftermath of World War I caused an advancement in science knowledge and technologies. This was the beginning of understanding the importance of mental health, starting with the diagnosis of shellshock. 2. The facial prosthetics were important because it allowed the men to live their life again without the insecurity caused by their disfigurement. Without these prosthetics, there would be a lot more post-war casualties due to the men, believing that their live is ruined and would be unable to live with themselves. 3. What makes J’accuse so horrible is the cinematography. The scenes with the graveyard is so unpleasant to look at, I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. 4. J’accuse shows the war is inevitable, because of that simple fact the men are unable to take responsibility for their own actions. And that is exactly how the Great War started; Serbia refused to take responsibility for killing the Duke of Austria-Hungary. 5. Wilfred Owen’s poems tell me that nobody knew what to expect going into the war and most of the men on both sides did not want to fight. As the war went on, however, their spirits dropped and all of them believed that they would die in battle. 6. World war I destroyed faith and hopefulness in so many, because that is what war does. During the war, so many soldiers watched their colleagues die in battle, some were disfigured, and many believed that they wouldn’t make it out alive. It wasn’t until after the war ended that they were able to rebuild what was left of their life, though family or prosthetics. But the war didn’t just affect the soldiers, it also effected the families of those who died on the battlefield. I don’t believe we, as humans are special in any way, we are just trying to make something of the world. However, I do believe that there is good and evil in the world and aftermath of this war is cause of the most evil man in the 20 th century to rise to power.
