Racially stereotyped if looked to be Japanese 2.What impact did WWII Japanese Internment experience have on the Japanese Americans economically, How were Japanese Americans compensated for their losses? (see article in link above) Does the compensation paid to Japanese Americans provide a precedent for possible similar payments (or reparations) to African Americans for their losses under slavery? Why or why not? The impact of WWII Japanese internment experience had on the Japanese Americans economically, destroyed the farming industry. Many Japanese families that farmed were forced into camps losing their land, houses, and businesses. Japanese Americans were compensated for their losses by the senate passing a bill giving $20,000 for each person forced into the camps.
This compensation allowed for many to return to work but never fully recovered financially for a normal life. The compensation paid to Japanese Americans provides a precedent for possible similar payments (or reparations) to African Americans for their losses under slavery. Those who were forced to be slaves were unable to make money for themselves or their families creating economic hardships for the African Americans. By compensating them, it is acknowledging The wrongdoings done to them with an attempt to make amends. Thus not fixing the slavery issue at hand but taking a step in the right direction.
