Jamestown Jamestown, Virginia their settlement, which was named after their King, James I. 1607-1624 The settlement became the first permanent English settlement in North America. Virginia Company was a joint stock company that was approved by King James I to create new settlements in the colony of Virginia 1606-1624 to bring profit to its shareholders and to establish an English colony in the New World Indentured Servants a labor contract with servants where they will work to repay an indenture or loan over some time, commonly several years 1607 indentured servants made up the mass of English immigrants to the colonies and were central to the development of the tobacco economy Tobacco Plantations The tobacco is germinated in cold frames or hotbeds and then transplanted to the field until it matures. It is grown in warm climates with rich, well- drained soil 1629 Tobacco formed the basis of the colony's economy, it was used to purchase the indentured servants and enslaved laborers to cultivate it, to pay local taxes, and to buy manufactured goods from England. Powhatan Indians were a group of Eastern Woodland Indians who occupied the coastal plain of Virginia. 1607 responsible for uniting dozens of tribes into a single, powerful alliance.

To enslave another human being just because you need labor and they're a different color means they're nothing, I get that not the case now but still conflicting. 2. Muddiest Point: Which idea presented in this module is the most confusing and why? Explain what you find challenging about the idea. Not much issues again, it all was basic colonization and tribes. 3. Real-Life Application: Which idea presented in module is the most relevant to today? List the idea and how it applies. The indentured servants, its like a credit card without the servant part.
