Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.
Primary sources give direct proof about how the event took place. Primary sources usually have photos, newspapers, and government records that took place at the same time the event happened therefore making them more believable and accurate.
Secondary sources are established after the event but use enough research to still be accurate. They do not take place at the same time as the event occurred. Explain why it is important to consult a variety of sources when conducting historical research. Include specific details and examples.
It is important to consult a variety of sources because one can verify the events. Every source will have details that the other does not and by reading and researching many of them, you can establish a timeline by putting them all together. Different sources will give you a bigger picture to look at, rather than sticking to one source. You can get a well-rounded look at the event. Identify one primary
source that would help investigate your research question (include the title, author, and link to the source).

Choose a current event related to the subject of your historical research question and explain how they are connected.
The Black Lives Matter movement is connected to Haitian Independence. Before, there was little
talk of black lives in America and the world felt less racism when we all minded our own business. Now, the Black Lives Matter movement has opened a discussion of racism to the point where it is everywhere. As a society, we were better when we did not discuss what lives matter. Much like the Haitian independence, after Haiti left France, Haiti became one of the poorest countries known worldwide. Both the Black Lives Matter movement and Haitian Independence 1
at first wanted to bring awareness and become more free, but instead, the opposite happened for both parties.
